Which cello suits my child?
The 4/4 cello is the norm. You can also call it a whole cello.
In addition, there are 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 cellos. These are proportionally smaller in size and suitable for children of younger age.
The body lengths are at:
- 4/4 about 75 cm
- 3/4 about 69 cm
- 1/2 about 65 cm
- 1/4 about 58 cm
- 1/8 about 51 cm
Of course, there are also the matching bow and bag sizes.

When choosing the cello size you can not determine a precise size. It therefore serves an approximate age. The decision should be made in any case in consultation with the cello teacher.
